AT A GLANCE

For an initial installation assessment in Ghana. Photos and measurements help identify constraints; final fit needs the exact lock body and an installer’s review before the door is altered.

1. Check how the door closes before changing the lock

Open and close the existing door gently. Note whether it drags, sags, catches the frame or needs lifting or pushing to latch. Tell the installer about these symptoms: a new electronic lock should not be treated as a repair for a poorly aligned door. The door, hinges and frame may need attention before a fitting decision.

Photograph both sides, the open door edge and the frame where the latch or bolt meets it. Record the opening direction and show nearby handles, bars, screens or a second door that could obstruct a new panel. Do not dismantle the existing mechanism just to prepare an enquiry.

2. Measure the door and identify the existing lock format

With the door open, measure the thickness at the intended lock position and include a photo showing the ruler or tape. For a mortise lock, show the edge plate and record its visible dimensions if you can do so safely. For a rim lock, show its position on the door surface. Do not assume those lock formats share the same preparation or fixing points.

The indoor AROVENIQ page lists a 35–50 mm door-thickness range, but thickness alone does not approve a door. Existing holes, the selected lock body, internal door construction and panel clearance also matter. Do not apply that indoor range to DX-11 or the gate lock; each configuration needs its own review.

3. Review frame space, old holes and the doorway environment

Ask the installer to check where the latch and bolt will meet the frame, whether the panels clear the frame and other fittings, and whether old holes can be covered or require repair. Backset—the distance from the door edge to the handle or cylinder centre—may be relevant to the chosen lock body. Photograph the tape position rather than sending an unexplained number.

Show the shelter and exposure at an entrance or gate as well as the door itself. For a door with a special fire, escape or building requirement, obtain the appropriate qualified review before alteration. A photograph or a general product illustration cannot establish that such a door may be modified.

4. Approve the work before drilling; check the result at handover

Request written confirmation of the selected lock body, required alterations, fitting scope and any separately charged carpentry, welding, reinforcement or repainting. AROVENIQ’s published installation process includes standard fitting and handover after compatibility approval; extra work and transport need their own quotation confirmation. Avoid irreversible cutting before that approval.

  • Confirm ordinary closing and locking without forcing or lifting the door.
  • Demonstrate supported everyday access and backup entry with the door open first.
  • Confirm inside opening and the agreed access-administration process.
  • Keep the installed model, approved work record and support contacts.
